Celebrating Limerick

A limerick is a five line poem popularized by Edward Lear.
Today is his birthday. I think everyone should write their own.
Here is an example I found online:

There once were some rhymes they called limericks
Repeated by smart men and dimwits
They’re easy to make
A real piece of cake
Until you get to the last line

  1. Another attempt at writing,
    In dedication to this day.
    This should be very exciting
In case your day was gray.
    Now it will be colorful.

  2. There once was a girl named Oli
    Whose pantyhose were quite holey
    She wore them all day
    Instead of throwing them away
    She made them fashionable fully.

  3. I have been trying all day
    But no words have come
So I will go on my way
Maybe words will come as I go home
    Or here they may flow
